Abstract

This study aims to determine the prospects for developing fish farming on the coast of Mallusetasi Beach, Barru Regency, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. This is an explanatory research that designs research for obtaining information about the prospects for developing fish farming on the coast of Mallusetasi Beach, Barru Regency, based on environmental aspects. A sampling of the location of the sample is carried out by observing and surmising that these locations have the potential and prospects for the development of fish farming. Station 1 is located around the hatchery in front of Dutungan Island, Station 2 is around the port or crossing point to Dutungan Island, and Station 3 is at the pier in front of Dungan Island. Water quality observations, such as current velocity, brightness, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and salinity, were carried out in situ. Furthermore, the data were collected, processed, and analyzed by descriptive analysis. The results showed that based on aquaculture requirements that refer to water quality data such as current speed, brightness, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and salinity, they are still appropriate and have prospects for development for marine fish farming, for example, green clams, blood/feather clams, oysters, seaweed, baronang fish, grouper and snapper.
