Evaluation of the Factors Responsible for Flood in Anambra West Local Government Area in Anambra State, Nigeria

Abstract

This study was carried out to find out the factors responsible for flood that occurs in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra Sate. 100 questionnaires were distributed while 89 were returned. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Likert scale. The causes of flood in Anambra West was deduced to be building on natural flood channel, release of water from dams, soil moisture saturation, yearly water surge, coastal area, and low laying area. Some recommendations include: public enlightenment, opening of blocked drainages, amongst others
