Humanism and Marxism: The Nexus

Abstract

This work attempts to bare the themes humanism and Marxism share in common. As significant philosophical subjects, humanism and Marxism have impacted greatly on humanity, and this majorly owes to their stance on the well-being and fulfillment of man as the focal point of existence. Alienation, exploitation, freedom, atheism and human well-being constitute the main theses they share in common. In this regard, one can rightly affirm that Marxism is humanistic and humanism, Marxist. The paper, while upholding the humanist and Marxist quest for man's well-being, fulfillment and happiness, however, contends that disavowal of religion and the existence of God spell doom for man. Man's well-being, fulfillment, and happiness, the paper concludes, cannot be realized without the recognition of the Supernatural Intelligence that created man.
