Abstract

This work examines the role of a God-fearing leader in the building and transformation of the nation Israel. A correlation between the nation of Israel and Nigeria in respect to the activities as Christian leaders is assessed. The exegesis of I kings 18:30-40 shows that the renewing of our hearts as Christian leaders cannot be over emphasized. Elijah was courageous enough to confront the evils of the prophets of Baal. Our Christian leaders in Nigeria should shun materialism since that has become the bane of evil and corruption in the nation and confront all vices. It is clear that in building the nation, the Christian leader should understand and live the life of sanctification; should be dedicated to the service of God with zeal and commitment; and be involved in the act of sacrifice in a way that the reign and the rule of God will permeate the society.
