Abstract

Today, there is a growing awareness that instability in Africa is being threatened not only by human conflicts but also by the destruction of the natural environment. Africa's beautiful environment is deteriorating at a very fast rate. This environmental deterioration is negatively affecting many Africans. As reports of this degradation increase in Africa, human concern about environmental issues is also heightening. Experts in environmental conservation are now busy determining the causes of the environmental crisis and finding solutions to it. This paper focuses on the African Ubuntu as a tool to combat environmental degradation in Africa. The argument of this paper therefore, is the re-appraisal of Ubuntu ethical values to spearhead efforts in environmental preservation in Africa.
