Historical Documentation of Nigeria's Political Economy: An Overview of 2000-2012

Abstract

This paper is aimed at examining the evolution of Nigeria's political economy within the period 2000-2012. The paper presents conceptual clarification of the terms Economic Development and Economic growth. The distinction between economic development and economic growth is presented in the paper. The Nigeria's political economic evolution from 2000 to 2012 is presented in the paper analyzing the challenges within the period under review. In the conclusion, the paper offers some plausible recommendations of which if considered and implemented will indeed improve Nigeria's political economy tremendously.
